Introduction to Wrestling
Wrestling is one of man's Oldest Sports.
It's not "Airplane spins" or "pile drivers." Those terms describe the sort of action you'll see in professional wrestling and is closer to entertainment than it is a sport.
It's an increasingly popular sport that reguires strength, flexibility, and conditioning of its athlete. It's an idividula sport. A wrestler can't hide behind his teammates. He must accept the fame for winning and take the blame for losing. The wrestler can't blame the guy who blew the double play or missed a tackle. It's not a lonely sport. Yes, it's just you and your opponent out there on the mat But even in an individual sport you need help. You'll need the cooperation and encouragement of your teammates, the enthusiasm and knowledge of your coachs and the understanding and support of your friends and family. It is one of the fairest sports in that it favors no particular size or stature among wrestlers, it is a sport for all sizes. There is room for everyone.
to be a successful wrestler you'll have to work hard and eat right, and build you body. It isn't easy, so why do it? Wrestling helps athletes develop in several areas and offers these benefits.
Develop physically in stength, stamina, and flexibility.
Develop mentally through the use of different technigues and strategies.
Gain and understanding of the human body and how it works.
Develop socially as you learn to work with others, to interact with an opponent to respond to an authority figure, and to follow rules.
Wrestling helps you grow emotionally as you learn to deal with success and failure

It is also FUN! Wrestling brings people together from all walks of life, all of the striving to be the best wrestler they can be.
Wrestling is a safe sport, and serious injuries rarely occur. There are however constant bumps and bruises because of the contact nature of the sport. The wrestler soon learns that the little aches and pains will contribute to his toughness.
